Introduction to Paper Marbling

ARTIST

Nancy Wong was born in Hong Kong and raise in Canada, Vancouver. She studied under Nigel Szeto, a renowned Chinese Canadian artist. With him she learned the basics of drawing, Chinese ink, watercolor and acrylic. Subsequently, she enrolled at the Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Canada and graduated in 2002.

Majored in Bachelor of Communication Design, she worked for a company providing signage for large-scale projects such as the Venetian Macau and the Hong Kong International Airport. She started again by painting a mural in a centre for autistic children in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong, 2006. The mural appears as a backdrop in a charity magazine.

In 2007 and 2008, she then went on to paint a series called Bamboos Of The World, which can be seen in HSBC Central, Hong Kong. This series provided the inspiration for her solo exhibition, “”Hidden Beauty” and Double Happiness” – Bamboos of the World” in Zee Stone Gallery, Hong Kong. Her depiction of 28 different type of bamboo around the world was a success and was interview by South China Morning Post.

During the coming years, she continuous exploring with Acrylic painting and been receiving commissions work. In 2017, she did her biggest two-storey high mural in a personal Villa titled "Birds in Paradise".

 

Nancy started of expanding her skills in Shanghai, Macau, Hong Kong, Guangzhou and back to Vancouver. Currently, Nancy is exploring other mediums such as Acrylic Paper Marbling.

1998 Winner of Vancouver City Hall’s Art Contest.

1999 Cang Cheng Art Studio Member Group exhibition at City Hall Hong Kong.

2008 Solo exhibition “”Hidden Beauty” and Double Happiness” – Bamboos of the World”, Zee Stone Gallery, Hong Kong.

2018 Chinese Artists Association of Canada Group exhibition at International Art Gallery.
